Light Return Basics
In a well cut diamond, most of the light entering the diamond from the top will bounce off the inner walls of the stone refracting back up through the crown, to give the viewer maximum brilliance and fire. In diamonds which are cut either too shallow or too deep, the facets do not properly compliment each other, and a substantial amount of light is lost through the bottom of the diamond. This results in a duller looking diamond.
An Exceptional Cut
To get maximum brilliance, fire, and ultimately "life" out of a diamond, your diamond must be cut to certain dimensions. Cutters must carefully consider each stone's optical properties to determine the optimal cut to give your diamond its "life".
With over 100 facets, the PrincessPlus diamond has nearly twice as many facets as a regular princess cut diamond. Each facet is strategically placed by master craftsmen to ensure the brightest and most beautiful princess cut possible.

The diagrams below demonstrate the major differences in cut between a regular princess and PrincessPlus diamond. The additional facets present in the PrincessPlus design are carefully positioned to produce superior optical properties.
Light Return Analysis
The percentage of light retuned by your diamond is di400rectly responsible for amount of “sparkle” that it produces. With the PrincessPlus Light Return certificates (pictured below), you can easily see how much “brighter” your PrincessPlus diamond is – and feel confident that it will produce a better sparkle.
The red color shows where light is being returned and the white color shows where light is leaking out of the bottom of the diamond. The analyzed images make it easy to see which diamond is better.
